I have been a Board member since 2018 and am the current chair since 2019. I am a full time practicing Ob/Gyn and have held leadership positions in various organizations, including at my own hospital, Saint Francis in Wilmington; the Delaware Section of the American College of Ob/Gyn; and for the Medical Society of Delaware. I am an American-born Chinese and my parents immigrated from Taiwan in the 1960’s after fleeing communist China in the 1940’s. Growing up in an immigrant Chinese household, I was exposed to all aspects of Chinese culture but did not really appreciate what that culture and language really meant until I enrolled my children in Chinese School in 2009. My oldest daughter graduated last year and both my son and husband are enrolled at CSD. During my time on the CSD Board, we have continued to prioritize the quality of education provided by the Chinese School, even during the indescribable challenges of the COVID pandemic. I believe the success of our School can be attributed to the close working relationship between the Board and administration; and the engagement and energy of our students and their families. These relationships are invaluable for the sustainability and the continued achievements of our School and I look forward to continuing this work with our CSD community.

I feel very grateful to have the opportunity to serve as a board member at Chinese School of Delaware since 2016. I moved to Delaware in 1999 when I joined DuPont and started my family here with my wife, then the addition of my two children. My daughter graduated last year and my son is currently enrolled in CSD. My daughter is also an active dancer at Chinese Folk Dance Troupe. Besides as an active member at the local Chinese church, I am also privileged to have served on the CACC board from 2016 to 2018. I am a current CSD Board member, having been re-elected last year.

I am the new board member of the Chinese School of Delaware, CSD. When I moved to Delaware in 2008, the first place my friend showed me was Wilmington Church, and the second place was CACC. Since then, my family has developed a close connection with CACC and CSD. My wife used to be a teacher at a Chinese school, and my two kids also are the students there. We always volunteer in CACC and CSD activities, such as Chinese New Year, Chinese Festival, etc. I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve for CSD.
